Strong and Soothing: Why Our Acne Control Complex Contains Ingredients to Treat and Heal

Posted on May 14, 2015 by Rachel Duran

Rachel DuranTake it from your complexion—it’s all about balance. Treating your acne with an harsh medication will only leave you red in the face. By contrast, only applying ultra-gentle ingredients won’t provide much in the way of clear results either. Research suggests that a strong yet soothing approach to treatment may be more effective for adults.

Our Acne Control Complex aims to do just that. It combines ingredients that work together to clear breakouts. Plus it hydrates the skin to prevent dryness and irritation associated with treatment. Here’s a closer look at what’s inside.

Benzoyl Peroxide 3%

Benzoyl peroxide is one of the most frequently used acne medications because it’s both effective and safe for sensitive skin. It works by introducing oxygen into the pore which kills bacteria responsible for breakouts. It also promotes skin turnover. And a 3% dosage has been shown to work nearly as well as higher dosages, but with less of the dryness that can irritate mature skin.

Tea Tree Oil

A natural astringent, tea tree oil contains dozens of compounds. Used in traditional medicine for hundreds of years, studies have shown that this ingredient may benefit problem skin.

Macadamia Seed Oil

The lightweight, incredibly moisturizing oil has a unique fatty acid profile similar to human sebum. Phytosterols in the macadamia seed may help to protect skin, too.

Jojoba Seed Oil

Pronounced, “ho-ho-ba” oil, the colorless and odorless ingredient has a similar molecular composition to the naturally produced oils on our own complexion. Proper hydration may help to balance the production of oil.

Witch Hazel

Witch hazel is a natural astringent that may provide soothing properties, too.

Shea Butter

Shea butter comes from the nut of the karate shea tree. Its long-standing reputation for its superb moisturizing benefits is well-deserved. The all-natural cream contains vitamin A and E, as well as essential fatty acids.
