Author: Rachel DuranWhen skin problems flare up, we usually head to the bathroom medicine cabinet—but sometimes relief can be found in the kitchen. In fact, your complexion may be as hungry as your body for the goodness of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, refined oils, and creamy dairy.

To address the signs of aging, minimize pores, and restore skin to a yummy glow, check out these three at-home recipes that you can whip up in a matter of minutes, no fancy cooking skills necessary.

1. Calm and Exfoliate

Oatmeal contains avenanthramides, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory compounds that soothe itchy, dry, and irritated skin. Oatmeal is great for acne-prone skin because it absorbs oil from the skin’s surface. The oatmeal in this scrub gently exfoliates and removes impurities, dirt, and residue, while the honey and olive oil moisturize and soothe.

  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 serving cooked oatmeal

Make the oatmeal with less water than usual so that it cooks down to a thick paste. Then apply as a scrub, gently rubbing it in small circles over your skin, avoiding the eye area. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry. This mask can be done twice weekly.

2. Brighten and Nourish

Plain yogurt is a multi-vitamin super food and a staple ingredient that encourages beautiful, more youthful skin as it banishes pesky blemishes. Yogurt boasts vitamin B to nourish and revitalize withered skin while healing and hydrating. Yogurt’s anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties, as well as alpha hydroxyl acids which may help prevent breakouts. This mask heals, refines pores, and fades acne marks.

  • 2 Tbsp yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

Apply to your cleansed face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water followed by a cool (not cold) rinse. This mask can be done twice a week.

3. Lift and Tighten

Egg white and lemon juice aid in oil control and pore tightening to prevent acne from appearing or sticking around. Lemon contains antibacterial properties to help clear pores and turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties heal inflamed skin and scars. The rich spice also absorbs excess oil from pores. This instant face-lifting mask can also help even skin tone and redness.

  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/3 tsp turmeric powder

Whisk the egg white till it turns frothy. Stir in the lemon juice and turmeric powder. Apply the mixture all over your face and let dry for 20 to 30 minutes. Use warm water to loosen the mask and rinse with cool water.
